Taylor & Francis Group has recently selected a collection of 15 papers featuring environmental protection from its publications during 2017 to 2020 as a promotion of Earth Day 2020 (April 22). A paper entitled "Big Earth Data science: an information framework for a sustainable planet" , which is co-authored by Prof. GUO Huadong from AIR together with JRC collaborators and published in the International Journal of Digital Earth has been selected into the article collection.

AIR has recently developed an infrared thermal imaging temperature screening system, capable of automatically measuring body temperature with high accuracy and efficiency.

On March 18, 2020, two sets of prototypes of 1.3GHz high-powered input coupler developed by the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) have passed all types of tests organized by the experts of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SAR) under CAS, marking AIR has become a leading player in China that has a mastery of coupler R&D in terms of key technologies and whole-chain manufacturing process.

The year 2020 is crucial for the project of Airborne Remote Sensing System, a national key S&T infrastructure underway. Two remote sensing aircraft equipped with dozens of advanced remote sensing equipment, and high-performance ground data processing systems, the system is expected to be China’s state-of-the-art aerial system once completed.

The latest issue of CropWatch Bulletin, a quarterly report published by the CropWatch research team from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was released on February 29 to provide comprehensive description on world-wide crop conditions between October 2019 and January 2020, and insights on the crop production outlook for 2020.

A research team led by Prof. HUANG Wenjiang and Dr. DONG Yingying from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has tracked the migration path of the Desert Locust and make a detailed analysis on the possibility of the Desert Locust invasion of China. The research combines multi-source Earth Observation data (including GF series in China, MODIS and Landsat series in US, and Sentinel series in EU), meteorological data, field data, and self-developed models and algorithms for Desert Locust monitoring and forecasting based on the Digital Earth Science Platform developed by AIR.
