“Intelligent Sensor” Program Launched to Advance Intracranial Detection

A program of "Research on flexible intracranial implantable multimodal integrated sensing and control technology" was launched to advance the intracranial multiparameter detection, according to the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

As part of the national Key R&D Program - "Intelligent Sensor" specific project, the program is led by a research team from the State Key Laboratory of Transducer Technology with AIR. The program involves six research teams covering the fields of key analog integrated chip R&D, key artificial intelligence chip R&D, and domestic top hospitals in cranial trauma and orthopedics. The project manager is Prof. XUE Ning from AIR.

This research aims to develop a fully integrated system with flexible intracranial implantable sensor and electrical stimulator, subcutaneously implanted wireless passive chips for signal processing, and low-power high-speed intelligent sensing hardware.

The research is based on the cross-fertilization of technologies from multiple disciplines including flexible microfabrication technology, analog integrated circuit and system design technology, low-power hardware accelerated pattern recognition technology, biocompatible packaging technology and disease modeling methods.

The goal of the program is to achieve intracranial multimodal high-dimensional physiological information monitoring and disease regulation system with minimally invasive implantation, high biocompatibility, and stable long-term performance.
