AIR, Udayana University Sign MoU to Advance Remote Sensing and Environmental Research

On February 28, 2025, the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Indonesia's Udayana University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in their collaboration on aerospace and environmental research.

The signing ceremony was accompanied by in-depth discussions on potential areas of cooperation, including academic exchanges, climate change response strategies, and joint research initiatives. Both institutions reached a consensus on a framework for future collaboration.

Prof. WU Yirong from AIR highlighted the institute's expertise in remote sensing, satellite navigation, spatial information systems, and big data analytics. He emphasized AIR's dedication to advancing aerospace information technology and Earth system science and expressed hope that the MoU would facilitate academic exchange and talent development between the two institutions. He noted that key areas of joint research could include marine remote sensing and environmental monitoring, contributing to sustainable development in Asia.

Prof. Sudarsana, Rector of Udayana University, introduced the university's academic strengths and reiterated its commitment to strengthening ties with AIR. He expressed enthusiasm for leveraging this partnership to drive progress in remote sensing and related fields.

During the event, CHEN Mingmei, Deputy Director of AIR's International Cooperation Office, provided an overview of AIR's research and international collaborations. Prof. Husi Letu, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, also reviewed the foundation of prior engagements between AIR and Udayana University.

Ahead of the signing ceremony, Prof. Husi Letu led an academic exchange between the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth and the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries at Udayana University. Researchers from both sides presented their latest findings and discussed opportunities for further collaboration under the MoU.

The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both institutions, including Prof. Adiatmika, Prof. Nuars, Prof. Hendrawan, Prof. Julyantoro, and Prof. Karang from Udayana University, as well as Senior Engineer PAN Jie and Prof. SHI Chong from AIR.
